Aurora, the autonomous vehicle company founded by Uber, Tesla, and Waymo alumni, has achieved a significant milestone by finalizing the design, architecture, and hardware for its Aurora Driver.
This technology will power the company's lineup of driverless semi trucks, developed in collaboration with German auto supplier Continental, slated for production starting in 2027. Aurora plans to deploy a limited number of fully autonomous trucks by the end of 2024 and aims to scale rapidly, deploying "thousands" of trucks within the next three years.
